Captain Bob's Restaurant in Bimini Bahamas is a family operated, friendly and comfortable place to enjoy great food and to spend time with friends and family. The atmosphere is relaxed, easy going and fun loving. Its simply "home-spun" in tone and character. The service is quick and professional but always friendly and the spirit of the place is one of "welcome, you're family".

Captain Bob's Restaurant in Bimini was established over forty years ago by legendary Bimini fishing guide and angler Bob Smith and his wife, Bonnie. Together, over the years, they established a reputation for being the best place on Bimini for breakfast and lunch. Often called "Bimini's best breakfast tradition" the restaurant today continues to live up to the high standard set by Bob and Bonnie Smith for nearly a half century.

 

The late Captain Bob Smith learned his angling and guiding skills from the famous Cass brothers who fished Bimini out of the Florida keys in the 1930s and 40s. Johnny Cass was guide for George Albert Lyon, an American industrialist and inventor who built a seasonal "mansion" at Paradise Point now Bimini Bay.  Cass schooled his protege well for eventually Captain Bob Smith was a much sought after local guide and boat captain. On board his fishing vessel, Miss Bonita and Miss Bonitia II, Captain Bob Smith gave hundreds of persons over the years an exciting day of fishing in the waters surrounding Bimini.

Captain Bob Smith was inducted into Bimini's Fishing Hall of Fame in 1995. He died in 2001. Some years later his wife, Bonnie, sold the restaurant business to Esther Edgecome. Esther was a former employee of Captain Bob's. Bonnie returned to live with family in Miami, Florida.  Esther and her family took up the reins and have kept Captain Bob's "Bimini's best breakfast tradition".

Today, Capt Bob's Restaurant in Bimini provides excellent breakfasts by serving both American fare and traditional Bahamian dishes such as "stewed conch" or "steamed or broiled fish" with peas 'n rice and macaroni and cheese. They also have an excellent lunch menu and each day, except for Saturday, there is a lunch special. It sells out fast so be sure to order early!
